I know this is a very old thread, but I just wanted to let you know you can still access some, if not all, of the content on sites that have disappeared, by using archive.org... for example, http://web.archive.org/web/20000312221009/http://cueball.nemonet.com/users/laughlin/ranger/Ranger_Life.htm is the last archived version of the link Dark Ranger posted.

Sometimes you'll only get the text of a page, if they didn't archive the photos before a site went down, and sometimes linked pages are missing, but if you really want to find something that went missing, you usually can. :)
