Go check out what "Kristof" wrote about the US Army SOF (Ranger's) on the Belgium board... What do you think?

Dem's fightin' words!
Interesting commentary, but it's not my place to respond to it. I imagine that now that it's brought to attention on here someone will say something about it.

It's not worth responding to. The information is, not surprisingly, wrong. Want to know how we know we're the best? Others compare themselves to us, not vice versa.

abn_rngr, the SAS and the SEALs say the same thing about comparison. Does that then mean that they are the best? Not a flame, just something to think about.

I understand what you're saying. But the truth of the matter is that, whether or not anyone believes the SEALs or SAS to be the best, they are still far enough up the ladder that they set the standards to which other compare themselves. Of all the comparable units in the world, he chose to talk about how much tougher the Belgian Paracommandos are to US Rangers.

good point, abn_rngr. Your earlier statement was always validated in my book, I'm just a sucker for the Devil's Advocate position. You must excuse me http://www.specialoperations.com/ubboard/wink.gif

Damn, someone read that old post.
Well yeah, I wrote it, but I also said we're open to any discussion.
The units are in fact very similar, in training and missions. But if you join the para's, you know for sure that you will see a lot of real ops before your time is up, and like I said, the US has a lot more units to choose from. If the shit hits the fan somewhere in a Africa, and there's belgians around, the para's are already there. And they haven't even got half the equipment the Rangers have, and that's a fact.
Kristof out.

Well, I responded to the Belgian remarks that their training is <you-fill-in-the-blank>.
I have a dark spot in my heart for the Belgians; so I cheerfully picked up the gauntlet and pimp-slapped the SOB.
