Any of you guys interested in doing something like a medical topic of the week on here? There's one on Lightfighter and another on tactical Forums, but they look to me like they're geared more to civilian EMT types. I was thinking we could do more of an 18D type thing. We've got PAs and Docs, so we should be able to get some good corrections.

I second that. Even if I can't understand it all, I love learning more about the subject.

I will third that…Let me start off by saying I have zero medical background, but I believe in better living through modern chemistry. I would like to have a forum like that, I have learned a great deal from what others have posted.

Sneaky SF Dude,

You've thought up a pretty good idea. It seems as though there is a wide variety of backgrounds on this board and this could end up having some pretty good discussions. I'll participate in any manner I can contribute positively... or ask a question that I should bloody well know the answer to.

Unfortunately I can't contribute shit to the recluse spider thread. I don't have any information or experience that goes beyond what we all learned in school. Myabe next topic.

I do have a good story about a 400lb naked guy that we extricated out of a Volkwagon a few nights ago... but that is another thread.

400lbs? Pshaw, my old 18E is now a fire/rescue guy in northern CO, and they've pulled both a 700lb and 900lb guy from their respective apartments in the last four years. Can you say "Ready! Lay heave!"? :)

You extricted him from the VW or it from him?? Tell me why fatass people drive such small cars? Cant find them driving large sedans or SUV's they have to be in VW's or those damn Honda Insights. I have some insight for them...GET A FUCKIN BIGGER RIDE then they dont complain when I remove the roof of there POV because it is easier on my back to extricate them backwards than through the door or over the console.

We have a "frequent flyer" that weighs in around 700 lbs. She is too heavy for a Stryker so we cut hand holes in a solid maple door and she is secured using 9' straps...carried to the bus and then slid in the back.

I know that was off subject Sneaky.

On topic: I would love to see the military medicine perspective and I will contribute where I can and ask questions.

Thanks guys for allowing a non-BTDT to contribute to the discussions in YOUR house.
