I am leaving for boot camp in about two weeks, and I was wondering are certain source ratings looked upon more favorably than others, for example is a corpsman more liikely to get into BUD/S than a yeoman, because his skills are more usefull? My source rating is Intel Spec. will this help me in the Teams and wiil it help me get into BUD/S? Will my time on the screening test help too? 500 meter swim-8:38/pushups-112/situps-102/pullups-19/ 1.5 mile run-9:11. Will these times also help? If any Team guys can help me or anyone who may know the answer I appreciate it. Thank You.
Blackjack...IS is a good rate for earning college credits (30 for the basic course alone)and will kinda parrallel a job in the teams...You'll probably work in teh Intel Shop reading maps and designating targets and so on...when on deployment you could be called upon to identify ships or aircraft and stuff like that...Do you have the SEAL Challenge in your contract? if you do then your ahead of teh game...if not then your behind in the start...Your PT scores are high enough to get you in...many people going for teh PT test at basic really aren't prepared and don't make it...believe it or not the most common failure is in sit ups...so make sure you do everything correct to form or you might do 50 and only 25 will count...Good luck man...

Thank you very much for your reply Nissan, I don't have SEAL challenge because when I was at MEPS I found out that my right eye is correctable to 20/40, 20/70 uncorrected. Even though my left eye is 20/20,and I am left eye dominant, so when both of my eyes are open i can read the 20/20 line on the eye chart. This is what is worrying me about getting into BUD/S. That is why I am trying todo everything to heighten my chances to get in to the program. I don't want something as minute as a couple of points on an eyechart from achieving my dream to be a Frog. If you have any insight into this matter a reply ould be appreciated. Thanks.
Well dude without SEAL Challenge you gotta work extra hard to impress teh instructors up there but with your scores I don't think you'll have to big a problem there...your eye sight is within the limits for SpecOps so that shouldn't have done anything negative to you at MEPS...your still qualified for military service as well as the SEALs so i don't see how that could stop you in any way...go Kick Ass Take Names dude

Hey Nissan I hear ya, I have been busting my balls getting ready for this, but what it all comes down to is how bad do you really want it. Are you willing to eat a pile of shit and ask for seconds. This is all I have ever wanted in my life, I have friends who are jarheads saying "go join the Marines, go out for Recon" It's just not the same as being a SEAL, and experiencing that pride of having your Trident pinned to your chest is something that I wish I could experience so bad. So anyways glad to hear that your going to be a Frog. Good Luck to ya and a Loud and Proud HOOOOOOYYYYAAAAAAHHHHH!!!!
Man with some of the sacrifices I've made for this you'd think I eat shit on a daily basis for breakfast lunch and dinner...I know all about the Marines giving ya shit...I hear it everyday from em...but just take it tell em to go blow themselves and carry on...Just one more bump in the road to overcome...
