This might not be the right place to put this topic but I'm desperately looking for information right now. Out of the blue I was talking to my mom about what all I had to do to be a SEAL once I got done with basic and what not next March when I ship off and talked about the dive physical. Then she says "I hope the tubes you had in your ears when you were little don't cause a problem." I had no idea I had had tubes in my ears (I had them when I was two) So I look at the dive medical and buds screening form and it mentions having any middle or inner ear surgery as a either a disqualifying trait or of great concern I'm not sure by how its laid out. Anyhow does anybody here know anything about it? I sent an email to the buds medical department but haven't heard back. If it is a potential problem I want to get it straightened out long before I go to basic. Hopefully its not something that will keep me out of BUDs. I knew I have real small eustachian tubes but I've always been able to clear my ears in deep water and on airplanes so wasn't worried about the pressure. Any insight on this would be greatly appreciated. Thanks

Good question.

Just a suggestion. Look in the BUD/S and SEAL Forums and see if someone posted a link to the Navy Regulation for Medical Fitness.

The Army Regulation for Medical Fitness is 40-501.

Good luck.
