View Full Version : In in bind

Maybe someone can help me with this. I want to enlist with an OCS contract. Trouble is...I never registered for the draft. And now that I'm past 26 selective service isn't interested ( I know, I tried last year and got a postcard saying so.) But I figure going into the Army is the best way of making up for my mistake. Most guys with draft cards won't ever do any time under a ruck. Do you think the Army will see it this way or tell me to take a hike?

My bad. That should read "In a Bind."

Guy Jones:

Please...I'm hanging on your words.

Don't you mean past 25?

I'm not following this one....could be the Nyquil.....but can we sum this one up in straight terms?

TackDaBoat-

Sorry, I thought that was clear. I mean, most draft-age guys will never serve in uniform. So I was hoping because I was ready and able to serve, the army might cut me slack over something stupid I did when I was young.

Jeff Rambo-

25 or 26, I can't remember. Anyhow, I'm 28, so it's too late.

So, if anyone can help...

"Did you register for the draft?"..."Uhhh, yea, I THINK so. At 18 right? THINK I did". Let them find it.

Actually, they can check it pretty easily with a pushbutton phone (I found out last year when the recruiter was taking me to MEPS take the ASVAB.) (He didn't seem to get too worked up about it.) Anyhow, I'm dealing with another guy now (NG) and I'm just trying to figure out if it's gonna be a bigger deal if I try for OCS.
