I was pleasantly surprised to come across SOCNET, though this forum looks pretty deserted. Hopefully, there are a few current or past Nightstalkers out there to converse with! I'd enjoy sharing a few rememberences with those that can still remeber...

I've been cruising through the forums and I thank the admins, moderators, and subscribers for the respect you show for our brothers of all branches; those who have fallen, the Fathers and Legends, as well as those that continue the fight.

And to the young, set your sights high, but apply yourselves to today. Be the best that you can be and hope that you are what the community wants.

Again, my hat's off to the cadre of this site.
(No ass-kissing intended!)

Welcome :). Couple of TF 160 guys around I believe. NB: I am a wannabe. EDIT: I am an 18D wannabe, and not in any way a piolt wannabe.

'...remember': We worked hard, leaving nothing to chance, reacting as best we could when the unexpected entered in, then celebrated hard; when we could. '...remember?' Part of the AAR.

'Remember'; some I served with are in the land of memories.
God bless them.

MWB,

18D? What is that?
I'm new to 'forums', and never could remember all the MOSs.
I've been retired for awhile, so they've probably changed again.

Like I said, 'Apply yourself today'. Everything you do to make yourself more physically fit and knowledgable, goes to making you more desirable to any unit. Remember, in Somolia, the cooks even loaded up and went out.

I like your signature. If you ever go to assessment for any of the SPECOPS units, and the training, certifications, and re-certs, you will come to know that feeling/mind-set, or you will fail.

TigerHooter:

Thank you for the kind words.

18 Delta is the Special Forces medical sergeant MOS. Thanks to the new 18 X-ray enlistment option canidates with a GT score of over 110 (waiverable to 100) can join the Army with the chance of attending SFAS after completeing infantry OSUT and airborne school. "The Reaper," a memeber of this site has a post here: http://www.socnetcentral.com/vb/showthread.php?s=&threadid=23327 that gives a very detailed over view of the whole program.

The unit I misidentified as TF 160 (task force 160) is correctly known today as The 160th Special Operations Aviation Regiment (Airborne). They are based out of Ft Campbell, KY. The offical website is http://www.campbell.army.mil/160soar.htm

Teutates: 75 + 1.

I was in 'Bootstrap' for 10 months and as I was doing a records check at the end, I thought they had MY MOS wrong. I 'argued', in the nicest way, that I didn't know what a 153D did. It had changed and nobody told me. Took me a year to know what I was; but, I had an edjumacation!

BTW, all you wannabe’s it’s not TF160. Go out and find me the correct unit designation.

That's correct.
Man, we grew (hint).

Welcome to the board TigerHooter. always nice to some some more experienced veterans aboard. If you have any questions, feel free to ask and get that post count up there so they can get you an Avatar. You look a little naked there.
