All right guys, I want one of them hats. Where do they come from and who is this guy with that horrible scope, I will gift him my old reflex if he will use it. He's the laughing stock of ARFCOM at the moment doing CPD with a LR scope.

Your observation skills blow.

It is a compact scope, looks like a low power variable.

I must be the laughingstock, of all the other members on my team sporting Aimpoints or EOTech's, whom I regularly outshoot on CQD courses with my Leupold VariX-III 1.5-5X, 30mm tube, illuminated, duplex.

Yes it's that fast. On low power. If you practice.

With a flick of the ring, headshots to 300 are a snap.

And yes I have a choice.

No I don't carry the POS pistol, just liberated it.

Often enough, it isn't the gear, it's the user.

J Meoff, you have any water resistance problems with the illuminated Leupolds? Whose mount is that? S/F...Ken M

I'll be damned if that dont look like Tiger Woods. Maybe he is going after next years ESPY award.

Ok Jack, school me on this. Im not used to having my cake and eating it

Do you shoot both eyes open at close range and one closed for LR? Im from the Iron Age and only started using optics a couple years ago. What you are describing sounds like it could be a contender to replace the ACOG/Dr Optima combo.

Echofive

I've never actually used it in anything buy a light rain. It uses the same batts as an aimoint so easy to get when around the military. I'm usually at 6-12K ASL here, not a lot of water around. Its stated to be waterproof, to what depth I forget, in the specs. It's mount with a double throwlever ARMS #35 track, with the medium height tracklock rings.

Psywar

I've nevershot with anything but both eyes open. The ACOG/dr optic combo doesn't work for me. You have no cheekweld with the high mounted dr optic and must spend time searching for it. I ACOGs you like, try the TA31F, utilizing the Bindon concept. Very fast, aimpointish, with practice, and you still have the 4x.

The poster is pretty good too, Uday and Qusay Xed out and the reward for Dad advertised. Seems as though a lot of people want a copy over here, positive feedback from most everyone. :D

J Meoff, I had to take a cold shower after looking at that picture you posted. They didn't have toys like that when I used to play.

What's CQD? I've heard of CQB but not CQD.

J.Meoff

CQB, CQD, CRE, acronyms ad nuasem

must look good on some officers fitrep, "Major Pain devised an entirely new mission based realistic training program, or at least another acronym to disguise an older one"

Close range combative skills, usually typified by dynamic shooting on the move

Jesus, what is the deal with those UNAUTHORIZED FUCKIN' COVERS over there? Aren't there any leg SMGs in-country?

Sneaky: you are referring to Sergeants Major and not Sub-machine guns, right?

Assuming you are, my guess is they are all hiding out in some HQ somewhere, as they are out of their element when there is no grass to be cut.

My experience would have the 10% rule REVERSED for SGMs - but what do I know.

I can only hope most SGMs in the SpecOps world are different from many of those I have had to deal with.

CSM Wheeler, CSM Watson: if you are reading this, I am considering you in that good 10%. The rest of you, hell - there is no way in hell you would be reading this board - because it would mean you are somewhat concerned about soldiers being able to actually fight and do their jobs.

Yes, but what's really important is that JMeoff's cool toy appears to be resting atop a war rug.....got anymore laying around?
;)

BTW, is the pistol a TT33?

LOL... aint that the truth. I remember our unit working with a leg infantry unit in Campbell. We went into their perimeter for hot chow. They had set up K-rations and we were on line with all the regular infantry wearing sterile jungle fatigues and boonie hats. CSM comes over screaming WTF and barking at us "where the fuck are your kevlars? Buckle your god damn LBE and what's all that shit on your LBE? Where's your flashlight?,etc. etc." His way of dealing with all these out of uniform soldiers was simple... we weren't allowed to take hot chow in their perimeter any more so he wouldn't have to see us.

We had one jump one of our guys at Palmarola for not combat parking the M880 in the PX parking lot. It was when the Sandinistas jumped the border and me and my partner had been out for a while and the team came to pick us up at the gate. The Demo Man was gonna do him - hand to gland - right there in the parking lot.

OBTW - Any of you Rangers or 82nd guys that still have those "I Stopped the Invasion" T shirts from that time can't tap dance.:D

I've dropped a few rounds down range and will say with
iron sights you will see me almost close one eye when shooting. There is no rule for this, except putting lead on tgt.

Psywar,

What is the advantage of optics? (Yes I'm looking for a simple answer.) And will make a point. Anyone can answer, except BTDT's and Snipers.

Hell I've seen guys that might as well close both eyes and hope for the best.

RAAAAT!

All I can tell you is that by the shoulder insignia that it ain't the Marines... :D

See if they would have just used sterile cammies and grab a USS Blow me over with a 16 inch gun cover. They could have said they were Navy SEALS... :D

Not that ever has happened.

RAT OUT!!!

Teutates,

For me at least, using red dot optics,(Trij Reflex and Aimpoint) If I can see the dot and the target I can hit it much faster, even if I dont have perfect shooting form. What in my opinion would have been spray and pray type shots in the past are now good solid hits.

Luke,

The biggest advantage of optics is having two things in focus at once. (magnifies also)

Your eyes can only focus on one object at a time.

The array of optics you have mentioned should enable to keep both eyes open and hit your intended targets.

Do some dry fire practice and strive to keep both eyes open while engaging your picture of saddam hanging on the wall.

While I did mention I will close one eye while shooting with iron sights I do not think it necessary to explain the rationale of keeping both eyes open in a close fight. (under 100 meters)

Dry fire. Trust me.
