Greetings- first post here.

question- Have any former "operators" i.e. SF, Delta, what have you become pilots with SOAR? I'm thinking of a situation where a guy blows out a knee, but wants to keep serving...and becomes a pilot.

Would this be a good thing? As someone on the ground, would you feel more or less confidence knowing the pilot(s) supporting you had done what you were doing?

Yes. Guys who are former SF, Ranger, etc have gone on to become pilots. Many times.

Welcome.

Yes, not necessarily due to injuries. It happens often enough, but more for a change of scenery/pay than injuries. Ever seen the paperwork on a flight physical?

And yes, I always liked to see Ranger tabs on the guys flying us around. Saw more of those than we did SF tabs for sure, due to SF being more of a 'career' field, I would expect.

Type-82 probably has some good comments on this(?)

First, I would say that your perception of pilots in the 160th was incorrect.

A flight physical is more stringent than any other, what would he do when he get's shot down? Kind of tuff to E & E with a bum leg.
