SDV SEALs

Do SEALs in the SDV Teams only drive and navigate the SDV vehicles and Transport other SEAL Team SEALs to there destintations or do they actually "fight" and "operate" themselves, just like in regular SEAL TEAMS, but with the added benefit of having SDVs integral to there platoons? Or are SDV Teams more akin to to SBUs?

SDV Teams have their own "operators" that they carry around./insert. It is relatively rare these days for other Teams to use SDV's as insert platforms. Only certain portion of those detailed to SDV Teams will becomne full time Pilots/Navigators. What that % is these days is I'm uncertain of.

I have a question: Are most of the full-time SDV crews selected(i.e. Hey Bill, you're gonna be the SDV driver), or are they drawn from a pool of volunteers for the slots?

Things may be different according to coast, but when I went thru SDV school, everyone on their way to an SDV Team learned to pilot the boat. The best performers were designated pilots and the others filled the role of "backseat operators".
