Invention by a deputy is going to be used by Marine Snipers: www.time-news.com/stories/2001/march/day21/898917.html (http://www.times-news.com/stories/2001/march/day21/898917.html)

The "slope dopers" is something I might want to check out.

Gunny, when you get this let us know how it works, but I am sure it will be a while.

Hmmmm....doesn't the M-2 Compass have a slope angle indicator ? Or am I confusing the nomenclature. I know one of our military issue compas' has this capability.

If it works, and it is 'grunt' proof, we'll certainly use and abuse it.

The M2 has an inclinometer, but it is not considered very accurate and not the preferred method to determine VA.

Ahhh..so it is the M2. But the incli..bobulator...or whatever isn't that reliable huh ? Go figure.

Perhaps this new device will be of more use then.

Gunny, the new device is called a slope doper and is designed by Dave Rolls from WV. He is a deputy and a hell of a funny guy.

What it does is allow you to sight the angle and already gives you the range correction factor. So you take the estimated range and multiply by the conversion factor and you will have true shooting range to the target. It sounds weird but works great.

I have been using one for nearly three years.

Now you guys get some Mil Dot Master s and you will be in the 21st Centuary.LOL

Remember.....When you get your proper azimuth, lock down the dial with the aiming sight!!! (Kidding of course.)
