Still don't have alot of our equipment, but we should soon enough. SOTB, we're at the old Recon Bn barracks at French Creek. They renovated the whole place and it looks brand new.

Hey I feel sorry for you guys in the french creek barracks. I was there when Recon was moving out of those fucked up old things. I wanted to call in an air strike on it but they we're renocating them.
I remmember no heat in the winter, group showers, people passed out in them, and the cold ass pond in the woods towards the beach great for thrashing and just plain sucking.

Hey Foot,
What lineage did they give you guys? I heard it was going to be 1/9. Did that ever come to pass? Good luck anyway,

If Darren D. is still around there, let him know Mike K. says 'hey'.

No lineage at all. I heard that the 1/9 Association shot it down 'cause were not a traditonal infantry battalion and they didn't want to be associated with it, but that's just the rumor around the battalion. We don't have a single battle streamer on out colors. YET!!!!!
I like that better RAT.. :D

No worries. If Bush is here for another 4 then you will have ample chance to add streamers of your own.:D

How goes the switch to East Coast Marine.
Did the language implants hurt?

Don't really see much differance in where I came from and where I am now. It's strange 'cause I expected everyone out here to be spitting out 5.56 with every breath, but I really haven't seen much difference in East and West coast guys.

Mike Killion is a superb Marine officer and he will do a great job leading that battalion.
He was once an instructor at the Infantry Officer School and is one of the most knowledgeable and well read officers I ever knew regardless of rank. He's an outstanding leader and takes care of his Marines. You'll see.
He's also a tough bastard.
Footmobile, tell the Devil-Dogs not to be fooled by the grey hair on his head. He was a National Champion boxer at the Naval Academy and is still quite capable of knocking your dick stiff should the need arise.

JSOC, will do.
He came out to the last S/S we screening ran and took alot of time out of his busy day to tell us what he expects from our platoon and let us know that we're a priority for him which was great. From hearing him talk at some of the briefings I, and alot of the other guys, expect nothing but great things.

I figured that everything was exaggerated.
Good news on the CO it sounds like as well.
"He's TAKEN an IN-TER-EST!"
Take it easy bro.

Did the racoon battallion ever live out at French Creek? When I was at LeJeune, those guys were at Onslow Beach and FR was at French Creek. We sure as hell didn't have any "group showers". That sounds very much like a 2nd Racoon Bn thing (bunch of guys on an isolated part of the base by themselves....).
OUR showers were in individual dorm rooms and NCOs had their own rooms with the other guys roomed 2-per room (although the rooms were built for 4 per room)....

I remember that a hurricane came through that AO and there were rumors of shutting down Onslow Beach as 2nd Recon Bn's "home away from the flagpole". I just don't know if that ever occurred.
If it did, then it is reasonable to ASSume that they brought their group showers and other homo tendencies to mainside....:D

GOOD NEWS ABOUT GETTING A PERMANENT AT BN. I was with the MEB when it stood up 2001-2003. It was a royal pain getting trainup continuity with the BN's rotating every 6 months. By the time we spent all the time and money doing ITI, Bill Scott Raceway and others, it was time to train a new group. Also, not having to pull teeth getting them chopped from 2d mar div for ops and trainup will help. Is Tom Forseman still running the DM course out there ? Even the Army has gone to the Dm concept out here in Iraq. :D

Err rah to the Marines there. Honestly, I wish we would just turn Falluja to rubble. Every building is gone.
God speed with those there, come home safe.
