BS detector went off at a party...
"I'm a Navy man."
"Oh yeah, whaddya do?"
"Pararescue."
"Thought only AF had Pararescue..."
"No, AF, CG, and Navy all have pararescue."
I don't know much about the Navy, but I thought it sounded like BS. He'd "been through a lot of SEAL type training" though.
Maybe combat swimmer or something and had his wires crossed?
I guess it isn't exactly a SEAL check, but I hadn't ever encountered someone trying to fake the funk and it kinda pissed me off...

Probably a Navy rescue swimmer. The Navy's SAR school is in Pensacola, FL.
That comment would piss me off also.

I didn't want to enter into the conversation without good intel, end up looking dumber than he did, and come off as confrontational at my brother's friend's house, outnumbered...
But he is a regular over there, and we'll cross paths again; that being the sole reason I didn't just blow it off.

"No, AF, CG, and Navy all have pararescue." The Coast Guard has not had pararescue since 1947 as the Air Force took over that role. Navy has had some pararescue one or two team type operations (something completely different from being on a SEAL or UDT team), but any individual making Navy pararescue claim would need to be 55-years or older and they would have to reference specific unit servicing a specific geographic location.
I'm aware of at least one Navy medic going around New Mexico claiming a para-jump rescue, which is possible for many military jumpers, but unlikely as actual jump missions are rare unless it is open water or a remote isolated location.
There is no ground party on rescue jumps and most aircrews/military jumpmasters are unfamiliar with selecting drop zone over incident, evaluating winds real-time and determining real-time exit-point for jumpers. Rescue swimmers also lack the other training and qualifications Pararescuemen sustain.

The Resecue Swimmers I have met always referred to themselves as Rescue Swimmers.
I can't imagine a Rescue Swimmer claiming PJ status.
We had one former Rescue Swimmer with us at Indoc. He was, indeed a badass in the water. But had trouble dealing with the psychological aspects of being a trainee and called it quits.
I once referred a jump mission to the NSW guys at Ford Is. in Hawaii. I heard later they jumped 5 guys and a doc on the mission (a fisherman with his arm bit off by a shark). So, there at least 6 of them out there.

There are only one type of PJs - Air Force PJs. No Navy PJs. Navy Rescue Swimmers that claim they are PJs are probabaly not even Navy Rescue Swimmers. They should know better than that.
**I do know there are a few former PJs in the TEAMS and vice versa!
