I know that the RMC used to have a group known as the Arctic & Mountain Warfare Cadre
[A&MWC] and later the name was changed to
Fleet Recon Troop.

Does the unit still exists ? Has their role
been changed ? Or it has been downsized out of existence ?

Hope someone can help me on this.Thanks.

Never heard of Fleet Recon Troop, but there is a group called the Brigade Patrol Troop in the RMC, which are semi-special forces like the pathfinders, and I bet they do mountain leading

M&AW Cadre is now called Mountain Leader Training Cadre. The Brigade Patrol Troop was created to take over the cadre's recce role and allow it to concentrate on training.
