Is there a way to take the DLPT either upon re-enlisting in NG (former service), or prior, in order to have in your record?

probably not.

If you are near a unit that regularly administers the tests, then you might be able to pull it off.

But I don't think (could be wrong) that they can be administered at the MEPS or anything like that.

Just a suggestion, go to your nearest Active component post (Army, Navy, Air Farce, or Marine) and find the ed center. They should be able to admin the test. I'd probably call first and explsin the situation to them first though. Just my .02 take it for what it is worth... And have a good'un
