In the manner of Daredevil's "Proud Brother" thread, I am want to make this a Proud of my team thread.

So as the American reperesentative of the Union Team I want to announce that one of my teams few BJJ black belts, Nathan Marquardt has just won Pancrase 2004 Brave Tour and became for the 6 x Middleweight King of Pancrase World Champion! He beat out a tough Kazuo Misaki, a Pride fighter that is considered one of the best ground fighters you've probably not heard of in MMA.

Nate`s performance was really an extraordinary feat, considering that he is just 25 years old!Frank Shamrock, nor Bas Rutten has such a recrod from their Pancrase days. Our next step for Nate will be Pride and or the UFC. Negotiating with either of those two organizations has, in our experience been a hassle. But now that Nate has done what no one else has done by winning Pancrase for the 6th time, should give us some bargaining power.

In other news for my team, we are preparing two of our MMA fighters to go
to South-Africa on Nov 21st, to compete at the UFA MMA event on Nov 25th.They are Itamar Rosa and Guilherme Freitas; which are two guys to watch for in the future. On the next day, nov.26th, we will return to Brazil where we will host a huge seminar for more than 400 BJJ fighters, at Master Flavio Behrings annual meeting. The seminar is also a pretty big deal for us because my coach, Professor Ricardo Murgel was Master Flavio's first black belt ever awarded over 30 years ago. And now Ricardo is Master Flavio's first Master ever awarded. As most of you know, in BJJ there ain't a Master on every corner. In fact, there are less than 15. I'm also proud to say that Ricardo is going to be my as of yet unborn childs', Godfather. He's that good of a guy, friend and coach.

Awsome, choke. I appreciate your willingness to hang with the 'little people' in this field. Looking forward to much more trickle down.

Congratulations.

Nate's a good fighter, it's too bad that fight with Horn fell through (more like the event fell through), but I've heard that IFC is still trying to set that up (although Horn is now exclusive property of Euphoria).

Congrats to nate, and it's a shame that Almeida retired before Nate could get a rematch.

By the way choke, are you going to be at Abu Dhabi this year? I'm trying to work something out so I can go and watch Arona kick Lister's ass.

Nate's a good fighter and a good guy. Very humble.

As to AD, yea, I am planning on going down with Nate. He got robbed last year, and if you watch the DVD, you'll see what I'm talking about. I am about fed up with AD because the unless you tap your opponent, chances are you'll not win on points if your opponent if the current flavor of the moment. One of our other guys, Mark Robinson won the heavyweight in AD a few years ago. And got screwed the following year because he wasn't flashy enough... I'm gonna shut up now lest I get on a rampage as I'm prone to do on this subject of AD.

Suffice it to say, I'm planning on going. If you are able, or if we can logistically make it work, you can come with us. I don't know what your affiliations are in Brazil, but I can have a place for you to stay. I'm also planning on going down to compete in the Worlds. So, unless something gets in the way, I'll be down there for both.

Choke, thats great, please send my personal congratulations (from Rob). Your team strikes me as a real squared away serious group of individuals, I suspect we'll be seeing more of this sort of thing in the future?

There have always been too much politics involved with sport jiu-jitsu for my taste, but I try not to let it hamper my love for the sport.

And thank you so much for the offer, that would be amazing. I'll let you know ASAP when I get some more solid travel/work/etc info.
