Gents,

Looking for suggestions on the best one-handed after-market tourniquet you would recommend. I've had one that my last Corpsman sewed himself in my last unit, but need to get some in the hands of my current guys.

My guys currently have the Israeli dressings, which have some good uses, but there are far better tourniquets out there.

Thanks ahead,
TS

Along the lines of the previous question, our SARC corpsmen have been teaching the use of bungee cords lately for use as one handed torniquets. Any thoughts on this as a technique? Is this a good solution or would we be better served shelling out the dough for a commercial torniquets?

DY,

Thanks for the quick response. I've already emailed the link, and a couple Rsov gave me to my Corpsman to start taking a look at.

Anyone else, keep them coming. Thanks.

DY hit a good one there. Bottom line for me is windlass. Even the standard issue green one was no good for real unless it had a stick or something for a windlass.

Former corpsman with the MARSOC DET 1 guys has one on his site that he makes. www.csmgear.com . Don't know shit about medicine, but I'm sure he has a clue. Might want to check it out. He's a good dude, and makes other gear that's fantastic as well.

I have messed around with the SAT tourniquet and thought it worked well- easy to use one handed and cut off arterial flow completely.

I have not laid hands on this one but it is another option.

Thanks for all the replies PJ's. I'm having our supply guys order each of them for evaluation by my 18D's.

Gracias.

I have used both the bungee and the CSM. Both work really well. The bungee is abviously the easiest and cheapest item to get for everyone. Out platoons usually purchase one CSM model for each shooter. The CSM model is a little harder to do one handed though.

Stick and muslin wrap: cheap, effective, fun for the whole family.

This is the lightest and smallest SAT I am aware of. Butt simple to use.
