View Full Version : Not sure about this guy.....

Ran into a guy last night, a boyfriend of a co-worker.
Guy said he was a "Boat guy". I started talking to him, and he said he made it almost all the way through BUD/S, got injured, and then later went through SWCC, but got injured again (says he passed). He said he did 6 years in the Navy, and even though he was medically discharged, he has to finish out his enlistment contract through the reserves.
He says he is going to finish his contract out through the Army reserves, through the LRS unit at Los Al, or a LRS unit at Fontana......I wasn't aware there was a LRS unit at Fontana.
The guy also claims his brother was a SEAL for 6 years.
This guy's name is Aric Henry. I'm wondering if it would be possible to find out-
A. If he did ever enter BUD/S
B. If he graduated SWCC
and
C. If his brother was a SEAL (BUD/S graduate with the last name Henry in the last 10-15 or so, I know, I know.)
Thanks in advance,
Jim
Mods, my apologies if this should be in the SEAL phony section.

SWCC (Boat Crewmen) do partake in the first few weeks of BUDS Training, then are broken off into SWCC Training. I suspect a few borderline BUDS Rollbacks are sent into SWCC.
I cannot envision a guy being Discharged for Medical reasons, then being placed into the Reserves. A Medical discharge means one is not fit for Active Duty, of which the Reserves is subject.
For a Navy man to finish out his Navy obligation in the Army Reserves must be a transfer made on Mars. To be Discharged from the Navy Reserves one must finish out their Navy Reserve contract. The Army would not accept a guy who had an ongoing Navy Reserve contract.
There is no way of knowing who enrolled in BUDS, then was dropped before graduation. Only BUDS graduates are listed on my Data Base.
In the case of did a Henry (Brother or blabbermouth) serve as a SEAL?: There are many Henry's that served as Frogs or SEALs. I even served with one myself. However, all the Henrys are grouped into time eras from 1948-to-1968. No Henry BUDS graduates thereafter. This makes the latest Henry to graduate BUDS approx 55+ years old.
I do not know the location of LRS Reserve Units. In fact I am hazy on what LRS means. But I do know there is a SEAL and a Navy First Class Diver who are both past-Active Duty who belong to a Navy Reserve Unit in the Los Angeles/Long Beach area.

Thanks Cass, pretty much what I thought.
Is there a database of SWCC graduates?

if i have time, i'll call a buddy of mine who is the DOT at BUD/S and ask him if he has time to go back in the file room. there is a folder on everyone who ever went TO BUD/S in that room, whether they graduated or not. on a side note, Sgt Rock, if you see this, give me a call, i have a possible job for you if you want it.

Go to the data base manager....... NSWC....
SWCC/BUD/S indoc is a recent deal, keep the stated timeframe in mind.
The DOT will have no idea.
Convoluted stories always spell bullshit.

"He says he is going to finish his contract out through the Army reserves, through the LRS unit at Los Al, or a LRS unit at Fontana......I wasn't aware there was a LRS unit at Fontana."
I am not sure about the "being still under contract" with a medical discharge. To finish out his contract in the ARMY reserve or Guard he would have to be conditionally released from his NAVY reserve contract either way.
As far as the ARMY reserve in California they have no combat Arms. All Combat Arms in California are National Guard. The LRS unit in Los Alamitos is National Guard.
I can keep an ear on the ground here in the OC/Los AL for the name if you want to dig a little deeper.

i was just thinking the DOT because i know him and he might be willing, if he had time to go into the file room in the back of admin, it takes about a minute to find anyones folder (if you have a name) who ever even started BUD/S. i used to go back there when i had duty and browse around, just for the heck of it. have a good one.

I was an instructor at SWCC from 98-03 and the name doesn't ring a bell. I'll give the boys at the school house a call and the data base guy at BUD/s and get back to ya.

Thanks Boys!
It smellled rotten right from the get go.....just wanted to get my ducks in a row for next time I see this guy.....
It would be nice to prove that he never went to BUD/S and never passed SWCC. I'm sure when I tell him there's no record of his brother being a SEAL he'll say "Oh, he has a different last name!"
 When I asked him what Team his brother was with he replied, "He doesn't like to talk about it." :o
I know the LRS unit at Los AL doesn't take just anyone off the street.....and at Fontana I'm pretty sure it's NG SF. I'm thinking about calling some buds at both these places on the slight chance that this guy makes it to either place.
The guy seemed pretty slick...like he knew he could get away with claiming SWCC status and saying that he *almost* finished BUD/S....I wonder what he would have said if I didn't tell him that I had been in the military...
Thanks again!
Another possible poser.....
Guy was about 4 foot fucking 8, lotta tats, said he was a Marine.....Me and s1chmoe know him....The guy is WAAAAY to small to have been a Marine!
Reminds me of an SDV guy I know who is about a buck 10 soaking wet......:D
