Got this in the mail from someone wanting to be posted on the USMC Sniper site. As I know nothing about the Gurka's, I think someone else might be able to tell me if this info looks correct.

"Former Brigade Sniper/instructer 48 Ghurka infantry Brigade Hong Kong, 1988 to 1991."

I dont think that there is more than one Brigade of Ghurkas. Only one Regiment was at Hong Kong.

There was a Brigade of Gurkhas headquartered at Hong Kong until it was handed back to China, after that it was reduced to one Infantry Regiment and some service/support units. What schools might have been run at HK I don't know, but they had units stationed in Brunei and the UK as well at that time.

48(Gurkha)Infantry Brigade is the correct designation for the British formation in Hong Kong at that time, which included three Gurkha infantry bns and one Brit inf bn in its order of battle. AFAIK the Jungle Warfare Wing of the School of Infantry has been located in Brunei since the withdrawal of British forces from Malaysia in 1971.
