UFC 51, Ortiz vs. Belfort. I'm calling Belfort in the first round by striking. What do you guys think?

I'm rooting for Vitor but picking Tito. Vitor needs to get his head in the game in order to win, and that probably won't happen.

I'm gonna have to concur with Socket on both counts.

IF (and it's a big if) Tito survives the first round, I think he can win, but I think Vitor KOs him

We heard here in Kabul that Tito beat Vitor by decision. Can anyone commentary a bit on the fight? We heard that Vitor seemed off his game as he often is, but UNDERSTANDABLY SO.

Thanks for any info! :D

Tito won by decision in the third.

First round was close, second round Vitor won but he was gassed by the end from throwing hard blows standing, and then ground and pound. Third round Tito clearly won because Vitor was gassed. Decision to Tito, overall not an exciting fight to watch but I was cheering for Vitor....

I felt that Vitor earned a decision. He won the first two rounds. He seemed very, very on for this fight, unlike usual. He came out aggressively. More than anything, I was happy to see him break Tito's nose.

Bad night for me picks wise.

I picked Vitor and Terrell. I wll say that I think that the decision was close enough to where it could've been Vitor.

Oh well, I at least got Buentello, Diaz, and Arlovski right. I had no opinion on the others.

I'm very pleased to have seen Arlovski beat Sylvia!!! Arlovski is a class act that deserves some great fights.

I could not be more disappointed with the tito/vitor fight. Belfort gassed WAY, WAY WAY WAY WAY WAY, to early, which is uncharacteristic for a Brazilian. And Tito did beat him fair and square, however boringly by smashing him into the fence.

I also didn't like the way Tito secured himself a new contract with the UFC by calling out Chuck and Ken. Kinda cheasy way to do things, but hey, he'll get a great contract out of it. That being said, it was funny as hell seeing him punk them like that... I for one, have personal experience with Ken Shamrock and do not like him. I'd like to see that crank head get stomped again. And it would be nice to see someone who's become as lackluster as Tito do it.

There's bound to be a story regarding Shamrock here, would it be asking too much to share it? Just don't know enough about the guy, I like hearing insight on these fellas from people that have actually met/trained/or been around them.

That's funny you say that. I've trained quite a bit with Frank Shamrock, and whenever the subject of Ken comes up Frank just goes quiet. I think it's one of those "If you can't say anything nice..." situations. Tito is pretty friendly with Frank these days though, and Tito called and asked Frank to help him train for his fight against Ken. Frank was close to doing it but decided against it.

For what it's worth, Erik P. says that Ken has cleaned up alot and changed for the better in recent years.

That is good to know. I friend of mine was on the Shamrock2000 team and told me about some seriously strange stuff that went down.

Tito is my boy(lives right down the road, well when Iam not in Iraq lol),glad to hear that he won. I for one am not a fan of BJJ or the Brazilian fighters for that matter so when one loses Iam usually very pleased!

If you want to say that you heard or know some stuff about another fighter then spit it out (more personal experience) otherwise no need to mention it at all. I for one have personal experience with Frank and I think he is a rude dick!! Now Bas Rutten is a stud and a gentleman and I have all the respect in the world for him!

LOL, a lot of people say that about Frank. I don't know, he's always been a fairly nice guy when I've been around him. I do, however, think he can be a little moody.

Never met Bas, but I've heard good things. Frank has some hilarious Bas stories from the Pancrase days.

I'm not even sure if Tito and Vitor are top 205 fighters, anymore. The division is tremendously deep, and neither of them have shown the goods lately.

As far as the whole "fighter talk" shit goes, who gives a fuck? Fighter bashing isn't against the board. I think the Lion's Den has been dead for quite a while. Ortiz put them down, and he's not even a top guy anymore. Shit, Tito's not even the best guy on his own team.

All in all, this fight didn't prove anything other than that neither of them can beat Chuck or Randy, and that they're fairly equal fighters.
