I was reading an article off a scuba dicving website and the guy that wrote it was a former Navy diver (1972). He said that they used Otic Domeboro solution in the morning and then at night after the dives and they pretty much never had infections. But, since 2000 those drops are no longer available (Bayer stopped making it). So my question is what do you guys use now (if any) or could you recommend some sort of drop to help prevent infections.

thanks

In SAR school we used a combination of vinegar and rubbing alcohol in a fifty/fifty mix.

Been on a few swim teams and played in the surf prior to being a military diver and here is my opinion. The more you screw around with your ears attempting to "help" them the more you are setting yourself up for trouble. Once you remove all the wax from the canal and constantly keep the canal dry then cracking occurs. This sets you up for infection and trouble with a recurring condition.

Note: external ear infections is what I am refering to.

thanks guy for the help

I dont intend to do this very often, just on extensive dive holidays and such when diving like 5, 6 days in a row.

thanks again
