I have a new TKD school opening up by my home. Went in yesterday and it is run by a Grand Master Tae Eun Ha. Anyone have any scoop on him good or bad? He is suppose to be a big wig in the TKD community. Wanted to get my 9 yr old boy in and I wanted to get into Kumdo. Just researching right now.

I don't know about the particular instructor, but many kids seem to have a blast with sport TKD (which accounts for 99% of all TKD schools). Do you know where his rank comes from, and what organzation he's affiliated with?
If you want to do kumdo, then take it! There's more to it than just hitting other people with bamboo. The drills are repetitive and boring but come competition time, you'll have fun.

I'm generally leery about kids under 13 taking martial arts due to many kids not being mature enough to handle the training and the psychological discipline and I think it is very important that you have a good chat with the gwan jang nim (the head honcho of the dojang) to find out whether he can teach young kids properly. He could be the TKD god, but that doesn't mean he can teach young kids...

He is about mid forty, give or take. He trained the Korean Olympic team.
It has been a blast training with my kid. Now I don't have the wife telling me I am being to hard on the lad and I get to train! Apparently I am one of those you mentioned about training children. LOL! Not that I am a hard ass but I know what he can do and what he can't. Don't BS a BS'er!
I think you hit it on the head with the name.
