More special forces to Afghanistan
Norway plans to send a new contingent of special forces to Afghanistan. They'll be placed under US command.
Norwegian Broadcasting (NRK) reported Tuesday that the troops will be part of the so-called "stabilization force," but will report to the Americans.
They'll come in addition to the Telemark Battalion that's already in Afghanistan.
Norwegian Foreign Minister Jan Petersen oriented members of Parliament on the new troop deployment later on Tuesday.
Petersen claimed the new Norwegian troops are charged with "fighting international terrorism" while also "contributing towards creating the safety and security in Afghanistan that's needed" for stability.
