Just bought myself a HK USP .40 and have a question about the conversion from DAO to SA/DA. My gun is the varient 7 DAO and was wondering if you guys knew about how much it would be to get it converted to SA/DA? And what exactly are they changing when they do the conversion? It looks like they just put in the manual safety/decocker and a new hammer.

Hello Jihad, I don't know the answer to your question but I see that you are from Michigan, which is where I'm at. I was wondering where from? And I was also wondering how you like your USP? I was thinking of getting one in the 9mm or maybe the SW 99 which is .40 SW. I haven't had the pleasure of firing either of the two and was wondering what your take of the USP was.

Hello Mep,
Yes I am from Michigan, Muskegon acutally. I have shot a Smith and Wesson Sigma .40 and didn't really care too much for the way the grips felt in my hands but it did shoot very well. I love the HK USP it feels perfect in my hands. The only thing I have to complain about is the DA only, such a different feel than a SA. Can't stand the long pull which is why I have to get it converted. If you want a good selection of Handguns check out Kent Arms in Grand Rapids or Jay's Sporting Goods up in Claire which is just South east of Cadillac, which is where I picked up my HK out the door at $580.00. Catch ya later.

Thanks Jihad,
Is the USP always DA or is that just the first shot then it goes to SA?
Michigan's great, I currently live in Lansing but grew up amoung other places in Oscoda Michigan. I love going out into the woods up North cause it's so peaceful.
Happy Holidays!

The USP in most of the varients is SA/DA meaning when you cock the gun it goes to SA but you have the option to use the Decocking lever to switch it to DA. I got Varient 7 so it's DA only. So when I bring it in they will switch it to SA/DA with the manual safety/decocker. Love it here too specially Petoskey up north. Catch ya later
