Does anyone here use retention cords for their side arms? I have seen a few advertised and they look like they might snag on brush and other things during movement.
Hi Sapper;
I use the TRL from GEMTEC for CQB, it works well in that environment, it's not meant to be used in a wooded or brushy area it will definately get caught. It performs better than the issue lanyard because it doesn't go around you neck where it can be used to pull you around or choke you, it fastens to your belt.

JY, just out of curiosity, what function does the retaining cord serve in CQB?
Hi recce_o;
The TRL acts as a dummy cord if the weapon is dropped during insertion, fast rope, climbing and other means. It is also a firearms retention device if CQB gets a little to CQB. Plus the phone wire is fun to explain to those not knowing what it is 8) The coiled "phone cord" stays fairly close to the body and still allows full extension to a shooting position. But it will catch in regular field use.
Take care...Jim
