Great, more gear to get issued.

I have more diggies and desert boots than I know what to do with at home. Seems like every drill I get more and more uniforms. But hey, free is free. :D

It is nice to see the Coprs getting good, new gear out to the Marines.

We have two types of boots now. The "regular" and desert. Both are good to go. Now it is up to the commands right now, but if I am not mistaken, most of if not all of the reserves went to diggies and tan boots ONLY as of last October.

Per the MCO, you can still wear old style cammies but not the old style boots. The only exception is flight or safety boots. Everyone is suppose to have at least 1 pair of each type of MCCUUs, however with SMCR units you will have guys joining all the time with the old style.

Per MarAdmin Marines are allowed to wear either type of MCCUUs at their discretion, unless specified by the command for purposed of uniformity. The SgtMaj of the Marine Corps follow up the MarAdmin by stating the intent of "uniformity" is aimed more at formations, parades etc and not at a designated season/uniform of the day.

I am wearing a pair of the Bates Temperate weather lightweight boots. They are comfortable and weigh about as much as a pair of hightop sneakers. They are worth the $100.

Some of my buddies at 2nd Force just got issued the Oakely Boots. They said they were like wearing a sneaker comfort wise and that the tread on the boot was really good. They did say that the Oakely boots get a little hot though.

The pungi pit I get, but the landmine.... even if you are wearing an LAV, it will still ruin your day. :D

You should have seen the mad dash to get boots you didn't have to polish and cammies you didn't have to iron. You'd have thought there were nekkid wimmen giving out free beer. Guys from my company were talking SOI kids into trading theirs for woodlands. It was ugly.

At first I said "Not polishing boots? What's my beloved Corps..." than I came to my senses and hustled to the PX. Good boots, I still wear them.

The suede ain't so bad, it just took a while for my boot ass to figure out that Camp Lejeune and Goretex boots do NOT mix.

Problems with Oakley, from our experience, they do not last in harsh climates. That comfortable tread just shreds away. But hey, it's a great boot for PT and road marches.
