I believe a PJ named John Smith deserves the lion's share for inventing the system. A hard-duck is better if you are talking more gear and you have only one team for an entire C-130. The RAM-Z was designed to put three teams of PJ's out in a single C-130 for use with picking up the astronauts from the space shuttle should they have to eject and be seperated by some 6-miles each. The small size worked out for the larger helicopters also being the versatile kinda guys we are. The secondary benefit being that it was sized to fit a pallet, and hence be used with familiarity of that type of drop procedure for the aircrew and aeroport squadrons. K?
