Now this thing just has to be junk. I mean this is going back to the heavy- barrelled M14 and FAL of the 60s, which just couldn't cut it as light machine guns. You're probably, hell, definitely better off with a Bren Gun. Anybody think any different?

Hi Baboon;

You have a good handle on the SA80 family of trash. Worked with the Brits and they refer to the rifle as the SA85 instead of L85A1 with the prefix standing for sorry Ars...you get the point 8)

They have money problems big time so don't think they'll be getting a new rifle for awhile. The SIG P226 was just adopted and think that took most of their funding, at least they got one good item.

The SAS and others still keep the "Armalite" at hand though, they do like the CAR15 and would gladly get the M4 if the funds were there.

Well until they do get something else I can the Brens reappearing from some obscure armoury as they did in the Falklands and the Gulf War, maybe a couple of SLRs too.
