Hopefully somone else has info that trumps mine, as I'm sincerely hoping I got bad gouge (sorta doubt it though)...
Regardless, I was told yesterday by BUPERS that the program to get a general billet recall assignment to go to BUD/S as a reservist has been put on hold, and that the only way to go is to make a visit to the active duty recruiter and raise the right hand again. Does anyone here have any corroborating or conflicting (hopefully) information?

Shouldn't be an issue then. Go on active duty and get a slot........or do you not think you are gonna make it and want an easy way out???? Many people show up to selection courses with all kind of "back-up" plans. They all generally share one thing in common.....quiting

Not at all. My only consternation with going the active duty route is that it could be another few years before going to BUD/S - the active recuiters can't gaurantee billets anywhere.
I'm just trying to make choices based on accurate information. If active duty is the only option, then that's the route I'll go. I'm not looking for a back-up, I'm looking for the shortest route to BUD/S.
In addition, one of the main points to my post was to inform. I'm aware of several guys in the reserves trying to get to BUD/S - if they need to change paths and start talking to the active duty side, than they may want to know now, rather than wasting more time with the reserves.

Cool, I would hound the recruiters about options. Have you talked to any motivators? If you have to go to TPU, or whatever the command is that transitions you back to active duty, screen for BUD/s from there before your detailer gets you?? There has got to be a way. For instance change your rate and then screen for BUD/s at A-School (better if you are at Great Lakes) and get the motivators on it early. It would be best if you could contact them first and ask what options they might have to get you there.

Not yet - Motivators are on Monday morning's call list. Right now I'm putting out all my feelers, trying to get as much infor as possible.
I've already screened. I know they let the new boots get a contract that sends them straight to BUD/S, however - I'm being told no such option exists for those of us with prior active service. If anyone knows of a way to gauranteed billet to BUD/S via active - I'll go sign this afternoon.;)
Switching rates isn't something I had considered, so I'll have to explore that option, although I doubt they'll allow it at my rank/TIS. I do appreciate the suggestion however.

yes sir you are correct about this. GAR General Assignment Recall is on hold status. I received confirmation from the Pers Chief M. on Wed.
I was lucky to be one of the last to get accepted this way for SWCC..as for now all you can do is go back to active duty and be reinstated as a NAVET. Stronger motivation for you to make it through!
I myself went this way because my command that i was mobilized cut my billet without giving my reserve center and myself any lead way, I was going to do this in the future but it got pushed up considerably. When I pass SWCC, I have no problems raising my right hand and joing full time. Plus I know of two reservists who tried to pass SWCC and quit. I mysef want to prove to myself, my reserve center and the active duty world that indeed a reservist can pass and even excel in SWCC!:D

Hey Guns,
Just a suggestion, If you really are serious about getting to BUD/S as soon as possible and you are a reservist give the motivators at BUD/S a call. I'm sure they can hook you up if you are serious. I mean you come back on active and take the screen test and if you've recently done it, even better then maybe a month or two before you class up. I'm being straight up bro, would you be willing to relocate to Coronado ASAP (possibly in 1- 2 weeks: hypothetically). Because they may ask you point blank over the phone "how fast can you be out here?" and they won't fuck with you if your like "uhhhhhhhhhh"! Know what I mean? If you are a GM1 you've been in the Navy long enough to know that there are waivers for everything (well almost), just got to find the right people. PM me only if you are SERIOUS.
