Anyone have any suggestions for some courses that I would be able to benefit from while waiting for my language school date? Will be finished with my current PSYOP course in the begining of march and will have about a month off before starting up again. I am trying to build up some ideas of how I can spend my time for my month of downtime rather than painting rocks and painting buildings as mackall.

Thanks jtorak. I am interested in SERE, but wont get the opportunity untill I am assigned to the POG (so im told) Ranger is also something that I would like to go for in the future as well, but with the high optempo, I dont know if ill find the time within the next few years, but would like to be a part of the ranger support detachment, so well see what happens.

Int' Anti Terrorism Awareness Course, includes some cool driving training.
SERE-just about every class has standbyes get in if their physical is up to date (or used to, its been a day or two since I was at SWC).
Any course they'll let you get into is better than hanging out doing "HeyYou details!"

Trigger Time or Griffen Groop
What's your TDY situation? There's a middle-east familiarization course that may be worth your time, there's a SOF familiarization course I've heard about but never attended that may be of help to you.

If you are on Bragg:
Though there are some great suggestions. However as a former team chief and Det NCOIC, I'd also suggest CLS if you do not have it. Not as much fun, but one course you WILL use over and over. Get some of the 37 hopefuls together and find an NCO in group (I'd suggest 3rd or from the CB) and get basic sat commo training on prc-150's and psc-5 w/encryption devices - not only voice but DAMA as well - learn the 148 if you don't know it. Get a Falconview and/or FBCB2, even BF-tracker, class. Be creative, don't wait for the answer, go find the answer.
Though I can not speak for others, on my team or in my Det these were skills I expected you to have.

There was a problem last year at the schoolhouse with 37s going to SERE while waiting for launguage training, so it was ganked for us. About the only classes you will get will be CLS or LINES instructor. However, if you are ultra-ultra-PT-stud-top-notch-squared-away and the cadre has changed there could be, just maybe, a possibility for SERE. However, Gryphon Group will not happen until you get to the POG.

What is Gryphon group?
this kick ass school where you smash cars, get tasered, get pepper sprayed, shoot through glass from a moving vehicle, learn to drive like a maniac etc. Oh yeah, beer at a few of the meals is also included.

I did EMT through FTCC while waiting for Phase II. Thinkit's two months though. FTCC runs some good courses, worth checking in to anyway...
