Gentlemen,

I'm in the process of getting a few last things in line, and I've got one question currently unanswered. I can't find any info online regarding the matter, and the recruiters weren't in the office this afternoon/evening to answer.

In short:

Given successful completion of SFAS, the BEAR program is suggested to personnel eligable for it. Under the terms of the BEAR program, soldiers extend to 'get them through the Q-course' and then, if successfully completing the Q-course re-up for 2-6 years.

What is the length of the 'get through the Q-course' extention?
Is it indefinite as this recent BEAR message somewhat indicates?
Must it be done before SFQC, or can it be done during (after phase II, etc as long as the servicemember isn't 6 months out from ETS)?
What are the timelines?

15. Soldiers must be informed that, should their training dates change because they were recycled in a course for academic or disciplinary reasons, the provisions of the BEAR program no longer apply. Soldiers released from training should be reported to their Career branch as immediately available and assigned in accordance with the needs of the Army. RMB will not consider renegotiation of BEAR extension for soldiers recycled due to academic or disciplinary reasons.

Bottom line, I don't want to f-up in the Q course, while having a long extention ahead of me, and end up spending 2 more years in the Airplane Gang...

Thanks.

If your not ready and think you might fail you, you'll probable succeed.

When you graduated SFAS they talked about the BEAR during the briefing over at SWCS. They told us we had to be reuped or extended, whatever we chose, but to do it before the Q. I did the BEAR. I went from ETS of July 06 to Aug 09 b/c of the length of the 18D course. Make sure you take the above advice to heart. If you aren't ready to get it done right the 1st time then it shows the head isn't in the right place. Good luck brother.
