To all,

Just wondering how if the Beach Jumpers were ever part of Naval Special Warfare Command. I have never heard them referenced in any historical brief concerning NSW.

Yes they were for a while. The majority of BJs were good guys a few were not.
They made a worthwhile contribution during Viet Nam but should never be confused with the SEALs.

The Beach Jumpers were a separate Command in the early 1950's. At least a segment of BJ's were Headquartered and Stationed at NAB Coronado. We received one BJ from them as our Logistics guy. With a salute to him (and he was a good friend of mine) he would not yield any info on the BJ's when I would ask "What the hell is a Beach Jumper".

Perhaps, out of my view of knowledge the BJ's later joined with NSW?

For those who are members of the UDT-SEAL Assn. there is an article on WWII Beach Jumpers, of which, LT Douglas Fairbanks, the actor, was member. See The BLAST, 1st Qtr, 2001.

Beach Jumpers were Electronic Techs. There job was to ride around in trucks with loud speakers and broadcast taped propaganda to the locals. Sometimes they would set on the ground & do the same. They were not front-line combat troops. Their only casualty died in a car accident.
They were there, they did their job, they did their job well, that is it. They were not UDT/SEALs or anything remotely close.

I have been debating with myself as to whether or not to tell what I know and experienced where the BJs are concerned. Their attitude then and now leaves much to be desired. Should you want to hear how they came into the NavSpecWar tent and how they behaved afterwards PM me and I will give you the whole story.
