I just bought a new chinese SKS, and I want to make it into a more accurate rifle. I brought it to the range and shot it iron sights at 100 yards and it was very good. Could accuracy improve with a scope or muzzle brake/compensator?

Just how good was your accuracy at 100 Yds.
You fail to mention this.
Of course a scope is going to improve your sight picture and accurracy dramatically, however do not expecct match grade accuracy from your SKS.

Hummmmmm,
One of the recent Gun Digests had an article on accurizing an SKS. My advice would be to take it back where you got it, trade it in on an M-1 Garand, and be happy

Or on an M1 Carbine... those things are a treat to shoot.

Veil-
Ever had the opportunity to try an M2? (Selective-fire version of M1) ...now that's fun.

Nope... just some old M1's we still had in stock before they got sold and/or destroyed. It's a nice weapon, accuracy isn't exceptional but it has a nice smooth operation and a gentle tap on the shoulder. I'd love to own one myself, but there arent many ones around these days.

Veil,
If you live in America they are very easy to get. you can get them through CMP(civilian marksmanship program). really cheap too. only catch is you have to be a citizen.

Sorry, europe here http://www.specialoperations.com/ubboard/smile.gif Many shooting ranges have em still around though as starters gun but they dont sell 'em.

It's a shame, we also used to have lots of garands laying around but they got destroyed and replaced with ex-army FAL rifles. Never really liked the fal...
