I was reading about the HK69 40mm grenade launcher, and I read that it is "rarely seen in America due to the caliber conflict with U.S. Law Enforcement, (40mm v. 37mm)". This made me wonder, what 37mm grenade launcher do American law enforcement agencies use? I haven't been able to find the answer on-line yet, so I thought I'd try asking here...
Hi slowpulseboy;
like the handle! Glad to see you on the site!The US PD use a smooth bore(un-rifled)launcher mfg'd by various police suppliers (S&W, Federal, and such). These are used to lauch only CN/CS, flares, "knee knocker" types of munitions. Being smooth bore they are also legal for civilian ownership(like the "M203" IMP launchers for the AR15s).This also makes it easy for PDs to obtain the launchers without excessive paper work.
Most are a simple break open (like single shot shotgun) and double action firing mechanism, though the Bellview was a double action revolver 37mm gas gun. CN/CS rounds used include Barricade penetrators, muzzle dispersing, TrueFlite, and powder CN. Also various star, parachute and cluster flares can be fired. Along with some non-lethal, bean bag, knee knocker(wooden dowels) impact rounds.
Again glad to see a new "face", take care...Jim
Anyone ever seen or used the Arwen?

Thanks for the replies, people. I've been lurking on this board for a while but this was my first post. Does anyone know where I can find more information/specs/photos of 37mm US launchers? Thanks in advance.
