I wanted to be an FBI agent a few years back and am now considering it again. Wouldn't I have to move around a lot? How many vacation days do you get? One thing that's kind of confusing is understanding the pay. I've read the range is like $30,000/yr to $75,000/yr, but it all depends on stardard of living and where you live. Here in Omaha if you make $75,000/yr that would equal $35,000-$40,000/yr in D.C. Thanks for your help.

My wife made it to Phase II in the FBI hiring process before she decided to withdraw (it was taking to long for her liking with the hiring freezes and what not). Anyway, the way it was told to her was that you'll be moved to a field office, you can make list some preferences but chances are you won't get it. You can put down a choice of where you would like to be as an FBI agent, and then you'll wait for an opening in one of those offices. The wait is determined by how many people want that location (some place like Myrtle Beach and you could wait 20 years, Newark New Jersey and they'll have you there overnight). The DC area is supposed to be like three years. After that, you can choose to stay in that office for the remainder of your career, but if you have management aspirations you'll have to move around.

Do some research, almost all of your questions can be found on the FBI's website www.fbi.gov (http://www.fbi.gov) under the "employment" section.
