Hi,

I'm humbly annoucing my presence. I'd like to say the board is great and I have found answer's to many questions, so thanks for the help!

I do have one question and I am not sure where to post it. As I am not inclined to step one anyones toes, I hope this is an okay to place to post it.

So here is my question...

I was medically discharged (Honorably) from the FLARNG on 01OCT05 (RE-3), a few months ago I contacted a ARNGSF recruiter and he told me my best way of getting a shot at a SF career is to join up with a guard unit for a year, any mos, get a clean RE code and then seek him out.

My question is if I went AD, would it be possible to get the proper waiver for an 18X enlistment or would I have to essentially attempt the same process the ARNGSF recruiter told me, just on the AD side of the fence?

...Thanks in advance for entertaining a former REMF's and current broke d_ck's question.

I'm going to guess that you haven't been seen by the guys who deal with SF stuff. Therefore I am moving this thread to that area. Good luck....

What type of Med,after 5yrs.Why does the recruter think you can do 1 for the Gard, dont you need a waiver?

It was an Honorable Discharge ( buldging disk )...he said I would need a waiver to get into another ARNG unit...I ets'd on 01OCT05...so it's been less than a year out...I think the recruiters thought process was get back into the guard, then try and transfer to an SF unit...I guess my RE code would be different after I serve a year in the Guard and ets again.

Is that BS, does he just not want to push the paper, or is it good advice?

I was spotting someone on a squat rack and the guy I was spotting just dumped the weight on me 450lbs or so, and it aggrevated a previous injury which I have no idea how I got.

And as far as coming back, I am okay now, I don't know if I can pass an SF physical b/c I've never taken one, and I don't know about pulhes score either, I do know that it says some where that waivers for SF are on a case by case basis granted by the commander of JFKSWCS.

I am still in the IRR, so the Army didn't dispose of me fully.

I understand that I am eye'd with suspicion, I feel I am fine now and capable of making a contribution, and I want to do my part.

I see these guys on TV with limbs missing returning to duty and I think WTF am I doing.

Thanks and Good Day

Got it, thank you for the info.

I guess what I can't get my hands around is why the Guard let you go especially given the exodus that has occurred in some units since 9/11. Hell, they put a guy through OCS with a current DUI charge hanging over him...your back shouldn't mean a discharge with an RE-3 code.
