Watch out, watch out.

Fake alert for Aussie SASR patches. These patches are 100% fake. The SASR Association know about them and are pissed big time, certain individuals whose names are known will be getting spanked bottoms.

These are and have been touted around at $45.00 a piece, DO NOT BUY ONE. genuine Aussie SASR Patches go for around $200.00 so whilst these appear a bargain there only good for beer mats.

SASR have patches? I worked on a joint team with them for quite a few months and the only thing velcroed on was the Flag and some IR markers.

They do have patches, if you buy the book:

ANZAC ELITE: The Airborne and Special Forces Insignia of Australia and New Zealand

by: Julian and Cliff

You will see a fair selection of the said insignia upto the late 90's.

From what I understand the SASR Squadron patches are made for the squadron or specialist team only, so they are very limited in number. These patches are then only worn 'in house', because to the outside world an SASR guy is an SASR guy and it does'nt matter what Sqn he is in.

Why would anyone pay $45 dollars let alone $200 dollars for a patch?

I got an F Troop one.. tho I don't wear it because chicks wearing a SOF personnel's things is generally assumed to be one thing and one thing only. That's the only designator I ever saw, tho.

@polar bear, people collect all kinds of things..............and I don't pay $45 for badges either.

@olive drab, if you can put up a scan of the thing I'll get onto Julian and find out what you've got.

Just so ya all know, I collect parachute qualification insignia - most commonly called wings. Mainly the current NATO stuff but also anything that takes my eye.

They are funnsies only but were given and accepted with good intentions only.

They were never made to be sold to anybody, they were made as a favour for a mate and given to them at NO COST to anyone who received them, as a memento of his time working with the Sqn. That is all there is to it. I know now that somebody has taken images and is copying them, and trying to sell them on the open collectors market of which i am no part of but it is a small world. I have an idea of who it is and this person will be dealt with accordingly. Do not buy them, they are only worth the sentimental value of the member. They are not and never will be official in any capacity, they are not worn on uniforms they are keepsakes for the members only. I have more than enough official jobs paid for by Defence Organisation that I do not have to make fakes to make money. You can see some of them here, these are the 1RTF, the last job we just completed http://www.defence.gov.au/media/download/2006/Sep/20060901/20060829adf8185016_0078_lo.jpg Sometimes the inevitable makes it neccessary to justify ones self.
