This is an update on the schools progress in moving down from Indianhead (For all the tech's out there doing what I wish I was...)

The move is complete! We have already graduated our first Navy class. Ground and AIR have there own building down the road from the old range school house.
Similarly, Area 8 and IED's share a building across from the small demo range. IED's is up and looks good. They have cars, small houses and plenty of room. Area 8 is up and running but looks like they have a lot of work ahead. There is no pond (what a bummer!) and they monitor the problems with a propane bomb thingy instead of live HE. (can you believe that shit?)
Nukes is built on to the old range school house and is still a big dark dweeb haven.
Underwater is now up but looking like they have a ton more to do. They are still working out dive/training locations and beaching sites. There was talk about taking the students TAD to go sleep in tents and work right off the beach, but I think they have moved away from this craziness. (are the days of 5 star lodging truly over?)
They still are getting chambers on line and working out all the kinks. That pretty much sums up the whole school.....working out the kinks. If anyone would like to trade my billet here for their PEP billet (Australia would be nice) I'm all ears!

Nice to hear things seem to be going well. Kinda dissapointed that NAVSCOLEOD didn't go all out and build a truly first class facility. Oh well. Here's an update on Indian Head. AA&D's and AMT are being run simultaneously and are now in the old Air building, which was remodeled. AAD prac area is in the old nuke bldg and is outstanding. They old powder keg bar is now relocated to the old CBQ chow hall.

Whats the status on the Memorial? It is an empty plot now at Indian Head. Are they still talking about putting it up at Range 51? I personally think it would be better at the main school house. Later, Crab

Crab, Are you an instructor at AA&D's? I was just there in July. Great course. I just wish the'd give you more mony for more training aids.

No I am not an instructor there. But you are right, they need a few extra bucks. There is serious talk of doing away with AAD and making a "new" course at Eglin. I would bet in the next 3-4 years you'll see Indian Head closed forever to EOD.

I wouldn't be suprised at all. I doubt the Tech Center will move though, with it being so close to D.C. What do you think?

From what I understand the Stump Neck folks are staying put. Because of their location to DC? Yeah. But, when was the last time something worthwhile actually came from those guys? http://www.specialoperations.com/ubboard/smile.gif

Hey don't forget about the MK-25 ordnance locator! Or how about the MK-127 FNK! Where would we be with out these quality pieces of gear? I wish they would spend their whole budget putting our tool-kits in pelican cases with good foam. Oh well, what would the retired master blasters do then?
