I recently went down to my recruiting station, took the asvab and qualifed for psyops. I have no criminal history or any thing to disqualify me. They simiply told me that they are not training for the MOS. What should I do to help me get the MOS any suggestions?

May need to wait. There are only so many classes a year and they can fill up. Oh, and plz fill in your profile.

what he said.
If your desire is just to ship out as soon as possible, pick any MOS. There are over 200.
If PSYOP is your specific desire, you may have to wait a little bit, but it will be worth the wait.

The new FY just started and they will be training for the MOS, maybe not right now. Is there another person there you can talk to? if you want PSYOP be stubborn and dont settle on some other MOS you may not like.

so when I go back to meps can I just be like PSYOPS is the only thing I want and that I am willing to wait for an opening? They put me in another mos that I really dont want for the delayed entry program. I also told them I didnt want the mos. Can I be put on a waiting list or something any suggestions would help as is I am going to meps on monday the 16.

Like TPD said, if you want in, go 11B. Otherwise OD said what I would tell my kid.

Armyman,
MEPS will be a hard sell. If you really only can live with PSYOPS for whatever reason, don't even go to MEPS. Understand that if you go to MEPS, thier job is to put you in. If they can't or don't want to put you into PO, then they will do what it takes to put you into anything else. They arent going to want to let you walk out of there unsigned.

Would it be easier to get into civil affairs and how much dissimliar is it from psyops?

I am not the CA expert but I know a guy that was CA and he was in iraq for two years constructing schools and stuff. That has nothing to do with PO.

They will probably stick you in a unit that is short of recruits... and that does not come with a kiss or vaseline....

Tell them the MOS you want and be polite but firm.
Do not take anything else, but the MOS you want.
If you can wait for it, have them put you on DEP for the MOS.

Its the same AIT class, you just train 3 weeks in the classroom on CA or PSYOP specific stuff. Again, fill in your profile, it helps us help you. Are you looking at reserve or active component? Are you already DEPed in on another MOS?

It took me 4 trys to get this MOS. 4 times of going to MEPS in Raleigh. Everytime they said I had to go back to being a MP. Each time I said no thank you and left. The final time I went up there I spoke with the 1SG running the joint and told him what was happening and that the only MOS I was coming back in for was PSYOP, he made some phone calls and here I am. Don't give up if its what you want.
