View Full Version : WATER PROOFING SMALL GEAR ITEMS
What is the best way to waterproof gear items such as flashlights, radios, survival kit. socks and poncho liners etc. I have been using ziploc bags garbage bags and MRE bags none seem to work well enough. If any body has any tips or ideas I would really apreciate the info.

Survival gear - I used to keep mine in a 2oz tabacco tin, put some electrical tape around the lid to keep it water tight.
Flash lights/radios - there isn't a lot you can do, but avoid dropping them into water where possible.
Other gear like cloths, well Id suggest a Sabe Industries waterproof bag. Born from the canoeist waterproof bags, our are made from a new, rugged material.
Try www.sabreindustries.com (http://www.sabreindustries.com) and look under packs.
Cheap and very effective.

Condoms work well for flashlights that will fit in them, just tie a knot in it. depending on what you plan to use the light for, you may have to get a brighter one. I have used this on my SREAMLIGHT STINGER on night dives to about 90 feet. Make sure to handle the light a little more careful though if you do this.
