Hello all, haven't been on in a while, but I have been working out, doing the Warning Order. I do have a question however:

(see http://www.navyseals.com/community/navyseals/navysealworkout_main.cfm for a copy of the Warning Order)

SWIMMING SCHEDULE I
(sidestroke with no fins 4-5 days a week)

WEEKS #1, 2: Swim continuously for 15 min...

When they say swimming, do they mean with or without fins?
Thanks,
Joel

Look at what it says right below "SWIMMING SCHEDULE I" ;)

Ooops, didn't see Frog's response.

1024,

I've completed the Warning Order (I'm not a SEAL, never been/never going to BUD/S, non-military, *just a workout masochist*) and I can't stress enough the importance of following sound nutrition throughout this program. I don't know what your current macros are in your diet, or if you even know, but if you are in the typical athlete/highly active range of 40/30/30 or 40/40/20, you'd better think about following the recommendation of 70/15/15 or 65/20/15 to further your chances of completing this in one piece. Also, if you aren't ready to progress per the plan when it comes to the dips and running, DON'T push it. I know several people who have started this program only to be seriously injured (1 with rotator cuff problems and 3 from stress fractures in their feet and shins) and although any type of strenuous physical activity carries with it the potential to do damage, theirs was for the most part brought on themselves due to trying to do what they simply were not capable of (volume) at the time. I'm not at all saying you aren't being careful, just don't want you to get hurt when taking these simple precautions can be the difference in completing the Warning Order. Finally, completing this in no way means you are close to a SEAL or even a prospective BUD/S student in terms of fitness and most importantly, heart. I think a lot of people jump on these kinds of workouts because they think if they do it or even a hacked up version of it, that they are ready for a mission with an actual Team. It's silly to think that and the best way to look at this is as an intense and challenging workout and not something to compare yourself to the real deal guys by.

Good luck and enjoy the pain :). Also, hats off and glasses raised to you Team guys..... past, present and future. I cannot even phathom the determination and ability it takes to endure what you guys do for our country. Respect.

Sorry, my mistake. I'm going to try and read these things more carefully from now on.

And SDC, I will heed your advice by first off discovering what a macro is and then comparing mine to the numbers you have mentioned. I do understand that no BUD/S workout even is as hard as the real thing the actual Teams do and the Warning Order is hardly a compaison to BUD/S workouts.

Actually it was developed to help guys get ready to be prospective BUD/S students - physically. The mental part you have to find inside, but this will help prepare your body for the types of exercises you will be facing in BUD/S if you get there. That's why it's in the BUD/S Warning Order. ;)
