Hello to all the 160th SOAR folks out there. I was tasked to do the accreditation for the 160th SOAR SCIF at Ft Campbell back in 1987, 88, when I was with DIA OS2a. Also, I did the accreditation and inspection work for the ISA SCIFs. That tour at DIA OS2a was my last year before retiring, and I am happy to say that we managed to completely re-write DIA Manual 50-3. What transpired over the year of writing was a real exercise in political maneuvering and infighting. When I retired, I decided from then on that I hated civilian and military bureaucratic seat-warmers. People without a clue and who didn't even want to have a clue, much less think outside the box.
Anyway, we managed to get that red tape BS changed for the better. I heard from several friends who were with J2 and the various G2 elements during Desert Storm that they were able to deploy the TOC and other elements a lot easier and actually more securely after the new DIAM 50-3 was signed off.
So much for history, this message is simply to thank you all for your hard work and loyalty.
Best regards to all,
Dave Mann
