BUD/S is now accepting 20/100 vision in one eye, and 20/40 in the other. The old standards were 20/70;20/40.
Also, there is a $3000 incentive bonus when you earn your Special Warfare pin (after your six months' probation). A word of caution, though--no one does the job just for the money.

What are the color-blindness requirements? I'm interested in possibly joining the SEALs, however, I'm slightly color-blind, not bad only slightly.

Think they'll ever loosen the requierments, o allow laser eye surgery(if its perfected)?

the requirements for BUD/S is you cannot have any type of defect when it comes to color blindness due to the detailed work. The SEALs allow laser surgery after you make it through training or 2 years before you enter BUD/S

laser sugery? How is that possible? I dont know much about navy seals nor do I even care much about them, but I do know that some laser eye surgery patients have gone blind from the air pressure when they reached high altitudes from mountain climbing(something in their eye ball pops...I think). The same extremity of air pressure when jumping at high altitudes such as HeLo or HeHo can trigger this.

LRSC Grunt, What does HeLo and HeHo stand for? Also, is a navy seal the same as a Navy SEAL? While we are at it, is LRSC Grunt the same as lrsc grunt?

LRSC Grunt I dunno where you got your info but it sounds a little off to me..the Laser eye surgerys have been extremly effective and the eyes will not explode at high altitudes nor will they explode at Deep depths while SCUBA diving. The eye does not have a dead air space (I assume you don't SCUBA dive so I'll explain) a dead air space is a area of the body where there is neutral air that must be replaced as pressure builds that is why you must equalize your ears while SCUBA diving and always breathe because you could suffer over expansion injuries if you hold your breath and ascend(go up). Now 33 ft equals 1 atmoshpere while diving so 1 atmoshpere above water is about 75,000 feet (I think) or right to the edge of space..now tell me if your jumping at 25-30 grand or climbing a mountain to 9-10,000 ft ASL does that propose the same problems as diving at 33 feet?? no it doesn't so what you said is unfounded and stupid in general. The laser surgery's are probably the best evolution in eye care ever (IMHO) and I think your sorely mistaken in your assesment of the eyes and what is done to them and what it fixes..if you want me to explain teh surgery I will but for now I think this will surfice...
Oh yeah since I capitolized LRSC please capitolize SEAL because when ya don't it means something totally different..I respect your unit..you respect the one I am going for. unless ya meant the marine mammal in which you were correct and hence I say AAAAOOOORRRRKKKK..and its HALO and HAHO (High Altitude Low Opening and High Altitude High Opening) not HeLo and HeHo or whatever ya put...but you might be meaning something else..I dunno am I correct or what??

Here's some official information on laser eye surgeries..

WRT special warfare, in-service people can have PRK done w/ authorization from their COs. Prospective recruits, however, will need to have the surgery done at least a year before MEPS to even be considered for a waiver. Otherwise, so solly, maybe you can get a job with the Coast Guard..

Trident, a quick update my friend. The ante has been upped to $3500 based on successful "A" school completion and qualification for the Trident. And, as you said, "nobody does the job for the money!"

PRK is the ONLY authorized surgery to correct eyes for BUD/S and you don't have to wait a year you have to wait 6 months prior to BUD/S entry.
