I am wondering what the age restriction is for entering the Special Forces. I have heard that it is 34 years of age. Does that mean you have to get selected at age 34 or be completely through Q by or within the age of 34. I would like to hear it from the men that are involved with SF.

Thanks in advance.

Doc, When I went through SFAS in97' there were two "older" guys in my class, one was 40 and the other was 39. The rank restrictions for attending SFAS are e-4 through e-6 although I believe if you are an e-7 you can possibly get a waiver. Maybe things have changed. Are you in currently in the Army? Your best bet is to talk with a SF recruiter( for active duty people only). Or talk with a NGSF(20th/19th GRPs) recruiter to answer your age specific questions. Hope this helps ..Ler..

On a similar topic,

I was looking at the Go Army website and was looking at the warrant officer page. It says that one restriction of becoming an SF Warrant officer is that the candidate may not be older than 36 years old. I have to ask, if the program was first created for guys who had been Team Sergeants and would be put back on A-Teams, then why have this restriction? Looking at the SF Enlisted Newsletter and its career path, it seems almost impossible for a guy to be a team sergeant, then become a warrant officer. Especially if he went to college before joining the Army. Can any of you guys, especially the SF types like Tracy and Razor shed some light on this for me?

Ler,

I am not in the Army yet. I am 31 years old, and decided I what in. I'm trying to figure what route I want to go for. I have been focusing on a Ranger Contract, but then I have been looking into the SF NG rep-63 program. I tried to talk to the recruiter in Chicago about joining there Company A, 2BN, 20th Special Forces, but was told there is no rep-63 in the NG, at least in Chicago anyways, so I am still looking at the best route for myself. I'm from Wisconsin and that's why I tried the Chicago Group...

Thanks for the reply.
