A friend of mine may be looking for a linguist job.
He is a college educated native Arabic speaker and is a US citizen. He has no military experience (and thus, no clearance).
If anyone has the inside scoop on employment opportunities, shoot me a PM.

If your friend is willing to deploy, can obtain a Secret clearence, and can pass a over-the-phone interview in Modern Standard Arabic he can take his pick. Titan and L-3 are the big kids but there is alot of other sub-contractors doing the same thing. Even BW contacted me a few months ago to fill a translator position. MPRI has Arabic positions open here in the States if he would like to stay CONUS.

Thanks!
I turned him onto the big ones TITAN/L3 etc. I hadn't looked at MPRI. (eventhough they are also owned by L3).
I think he'd like to stay local if he stays CONUS but is thinking about traveling OCONUS.

Is the Arabic job market drying up? I don't see many positions on Intelligence Careers, and USAjobs anymore, and the salaries have taken a nose dive? Is Farsi or Urdu the way to go now? I live in SoCal, and I'm not looking to move--are there positions such as this locally?

You cannot go wrong with any of Pashto/Dari/Farsi/Urdu. I have a buddy who is a college-educated Farsi/Dari speaker. He is working for a civilian contractor and is currently deployed as part of a Human Terrain Team (HTT) in Afghanistan.

Just to piggy-back off of the original question, is Arabic not so highly sought anymore? I've spent a little bit of time to get 1-1+ proficient in Arabic- Modern Standard and plan on studying the language for another 4 years in college. I'm applying to GWU and UF (both of which have a good Arabic program) and would hate to see all that time wasted...
