Hello all!
Just a quick question or two for those in Federal LE...
I am currently in the process (1811) with two agencies, DEA being one of them. I took my medical exam for both and passed, HOWEVER, I have been told by both that I need to have further, more extensive eye examinations because I had laser eye surgery about six years ago. These exams are at my own expense and so far the only place that can do the exam that I can find is going to charge me $300.00 for the test. Has anyone had this exam (it looks to be a standard testing protocol) and has anyone NOT passed it? I guess I am a little nervous of shelling out $300.00 for a job(s) I might not get, since I am just a poor local cop with no money!!!!
Also, I took the polygraph for the other agency recently, and quite frankly, it was one of the most bizarre things I have endured. After about four and a half hours, I was accused of lying about my prior drug usage (I had not lied about anything!) and was somewhat raked over the coals about it. I have been a cop for ten years and the polygraphists were doing their routine straight out of the Reid Interview and Interrogation textbook. Is this a standard federal LE employment screening practice to see how I would react, or do I need to worry that these guys screwed up? I have taken two polygraphs before and had no problems at all.
Thanks!
