Since I've been out I've seen stuff about the 2nd Batt Rangers training with the Gracies in Jiu-Jitsu as well as other training in other martial arts, especially at 3rd Batt at Benning. Is this just advertising bullsh.. or does the Regiment devote training resources for Hand-to-hand? At C-1/75 we did in house training under our CO (an All-Army wrestler), 1SG (a golden gloves boxer), and a Squad Leader (a black belt in some karate crap).

Nope, Its no bulls***. Actually, it is quite a deal. The formal name for it is "Combatives". It is really quite something to see. It is actually a part of RIP now. There are something like 15 or 18 combative moves that a newbie needs to show competency in before he gets assigned to regiment. RLTW

Actually I think the stuff is making a hit throughout the whole infantry world...at Benning.......Te captains werebeing taught it at the Cpt's course...and soe foriegn officers were being exposed at the feild house....the Army needs to wise up and grab an effective system and certify some Os and NCOs in every PLT and up like Master fitness....just a thought from an LT....11ZULU OUT!

Maybe something should be created similar to the british Army's Physical Training Instructors(PTI), otherwise known as "The Bastards". They teach everything from PT through to H2H (Also known as "Jap Slapping". It's an idea...
