Just curious if what I was told is true. I'm already 6(years) deep, and on my second enlistment. Went through non-comp and was asked if I had ever considered BUD/S. Beings as I am now 33 and at the time 32, I was pretty confident that I wouldn't qualify based on age requirements. When I said that the instructor grinned like an undertaker and told me there were waivers for anything if I had the motivation to push hard enough to get them. Is it true that I could qualify even though, and I may have to look in the MILPERSMAN to verify this, I am past the age requirement. I don't wish to waste anyones time with this, but if it is a possibility, I would like to be able to pursue it. Thanks from the new wanna-be...

Also if it would be more appropriate to talk off line about this please e-mail me.

You are leaving out all the other info. Age 28 is the cutoff, but in some cases can be waved. What is your rate and rank, PT scores, Evals, recommendations from your CO and your Master Chief and why should you be allowed a waiver?

Frog,
Thanks for responding. My rate is PS, rank E-5, PT scores Excellent Medium to Excellent high, Evals nothing below a MP thus far. Rated 1 out of 5 with the only EP this last eval cycle in my current command, and my transfer Eval was an EP as well (I suppose the transfer Eval really doesn't count). No prior NJP's. My rate is going away, in 2-3 years it won't exist anymore. As per recommendations, I can get letter from my past two CO's, Master Chiefs, and my current OIC without a problem. If there is any other info that might help let me know.

V/R,

You can 'apply' for an age waiver. There were guys in the late 30's in my class. As Frog said all the other important info comes into play as well... Ok...back to the armory now!!
