Not a year, about 6 months or so. It works because my wife is having our boy about 2 weeks before the next course. I'm simply doing the next course, after this one. I'll continue to train to the standard, and take care of my fatherly duties. Then it's pain time.

Congratulations mate! If my numbers line up I'll be on course with you.. though I have a long road ahead.. my assessment day for the Special Forces Direct Recruitment Scheme is this week.

..I'm under the impression regular army applicants look down on the SFDRS guys as they've 'snuck in' so to speak.

Well I still have a long road ahead too. SFET is really only a small step in the scheme of things. Good luck and work bloody hard.

Just a word of advice dude, there are several current and former serving members of the unit you are attempting selection for that post on, and peruse this forum. I would keep the posts about your career progression in the ADF scant if not non-existent, especially in reference to SOCAUST (SOCOM). I am not trying to sound like a secret squirrel wannabe, but there has been a crackdown on online security violations and you would not want to fuck yourself over before you even start your re-enforcement cycle. Good luck with it man.
