I figured I would post this here just in case. My buddy got out of the Marine Corps a while back and moved to Australia to join the Army. After a year and a half of waiting he got his citizenship and went to Basic. Having served 2 tours with you guys I know your a pretty tight bunch and was wondering if any of you had heard of a American coming through training recently? I know this is a long shot but before he left all he would talk about is getting into the Commando's and getting in shape for SFET. I appreciate any help and if anyone hears anything I'll AIRMAIL you a flat of VB:D

I moved to Australia from Hawaii in 2001. I have been in the Army here since 2002. I haven't heard anything recently. I know of one American within 4, but he has lived in Australia for quite some time. Sorry can't help ya right now.

Thanks anyway. On a different subject I'm looking at making the jump myself. My friend was married to a Australian so I think he got his citizenship faster, but how long would it take for a American to get a passport? We can take this to PM if you would rather.

I knew of a yank INF PL Comd in 2004-5 if this gives any idea.

Bravo1,
No thats not him, he was still in around 04-05. We were actually in Iraq together at the time. I think either he would just be getting done with Basic and moving on to his schools. Thanks anyway.

Dont take this the wrong way. I'm not bagging you or your friend, but why would you want to leave the USMC to join the ADF? Seems a bit arse backwards to me?

No offense taken, I would wonder the same thing! He was one of the best Infantryman I knew and went above and beyond what his job required. In the Marine Corps sometimes that's not enough when your dealing with politics and to make a long story short he got railroaded out of the Corps. He was already married to a Aussie girl so he moved back with her and joined the ADF. Which brings me back to finding him.

taxman2,
Now that I re-read your post you may want to rephrase your "arse backwards" comment. Some might take offense to that. And what's with your profile?

Did his last name begin with an H, and could he run three miles in something like 16:40?

His last name doesn't begin with H, but I wouldn't put the time past him, he was a rabbit.PM Inbound.

Scout, PM inbound.
Scout, if you still need assistance, I'll be able to get info for you, as long as you have a full name? DOB would assist as well.
Won't pass on personal info, but location, unit and unit contact details will be made available.
